Some stunning images from the Rosetta Comet Chaser probe of 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko which was first discovered in 1969. These are the best images to date of what the surface of comet looks like.

Launched in March 2004, the Rosetta probe took nearly 10 years to reach Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This irregular shaped comet which measures 2.7 miles long by 2.5 miles across, has a rotation period of roughly 12.4 hours, a maximum orbital velocity of 84,000 mph, and is on average roughly 3.5 AU from Earth. Its surface temperature is a warm -135 degrees Fahrenheit.

These photos were taken in November 2014 with the landing of the small lander component 'Philae'
