Here's some of the latest images from NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft of the planet Pluto and its largest moon Charon. These spectacular images of the planet surface were taken with the Multispectral Visual Imaging Camera (MVIC) on July 14, 2015 and downlinked to Earth on September 13, 2015. Images of Charon were taken on July 14, 2015 and transmitted to Earth on September 21, 2015.

A Happy Universe

See, the universe is a happy place...

This photo, taken by the Hubble Space Telescope revealed a happy face produced by two faint galaxies. The two orange eyes of the smiley face are galaxies SDSSCGB 8842.3 and SDSSCGB 8842.4, while the smile is an artifact of light bending due to what is known as strong gravitational lensing

Earth's Moving Magnet

Here's a recent image from NOAA showing the variation in Earth's magnetic north pole over the past 10 years. These variations in the magnetosphere are due to circulation patterns in Earth's molten core, and are quite common in nature. So common in fact that Earth occasionally swaps the north and south poles as a result of motion in the liquid core.

Some stunning images from the Rosetta Comet Chaser probe of 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko which was first discovered in 1969. These are the best images to date of what the surface of comet looks like. 

NASA’s Cassini Orbiter

NASA’s Cassini probe captured this stunning high resolution photograph on 7/19/13 while transiting through the shadow of Saturn. That tiny blue dot indicated by the arrow is Earth, shown at a distance of approximately 900 million miles.
